Pisces is an ancient constellation, going as far back as the Babylonians, who called the constellation Nunu, ‘Fish’. Even so, it isn't a very obvious constellation; you'll need perfect nights to best study it.

The one Messier object (M74, a spiral galaxy) at 30 million light years distant, is much too faint for binoculars or even small telescopes. However there are a number of excellent binaries here, and the variable TX Psc is notable for its brilliant colour.
