a Phoenicis

Alpha Phoenicis is the brightest star in this obscure constellation, due west of the southern tip of Eridanus.

Alpha Phoenicis is easiest found by drawing a line between Fomalhaut (alpha Piscis Austrini) and Achernar (alpha Eridani). Midway along this line and just to the east is found alpha Phoenicis: binoculars.
