Columba is a relatively new constellation, having been introduced only in the seventeenth century. It usually is seen to represent the dove that
brought back the olive branch to Noah.
With the naked eye you should be able to pick out the asterism of a dove, with an olive branch represented by delta and theta. There are two binocular binaries here. Click on alpha Columbae. |
