R Carinae
R Carinae is a Mira-type variable which very often is at naked-eye visibility. It fluctuates from about 3.9 to 10.5 every 308.7 days, however often remains around 5.7-6.0 for several days or even weeks.

As of this writing, the last maximum was recorded in March 2014; its next maximum is expected toward the end of January 2015, and ten every months thereafter.

R Carinae is one binocular field north-northeast of beta Carinae.
